The Pennsylvania Turnpike
- Noise Impact Analysis Report - This report describes the methodology and presents the findings of the traffic noise study conducted for the full-depth reconstruction project from Milepost 320 to 326 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Chester and Montgomery Counties. Click here for the the report.
- Milepost 320-326 Widening (between Valley Forge and Dowingtown) - This project is for the full depth total roadway reconstruction of six miles of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Upon completion of this project, the existing four-lane facility with a 10 foot median and 12 foot shoulders will be converted into a six-lane facility with three - 12 foot travel lanes east and westbound, a 26 foot median, and 12 foot shoulders. Click here for more information on the project.
- Route 29 Slip Ramp (West of Tredyffrin) - The new Route 29 "Slip Ramp" Exit is a brand-new Turnpike interchange now being planned for construction in Chester County. This "slip ramp" is an an unstaffed interchange built exclusively for use by E-ZPass members. Construction is expected to start in the fall of 2008. For more information, please click here.
- 6-Lane expansion between mileposts 326 (Valley Forge) and 333 (Norristown) - (East of Tredyffrin) The area of the PA Turnpike between mileposts 326 (Valley Forge) and 333 (Norristown) was originally built in the 1950s. Reconstruction of this portion of the highway began in 1998 with the Schuylkill River Bridge Project that resulted in a new six-lane bridge. The section of roadway between mileposts 326 and 333 will also be expanded to 6 lanes, which will necessitate the replacement of the Route 202 and Flint Hill Road Bridges. Roadway and bridge construction along the segment began in 2006, and has a target date for completion of November 2008. For more information, please click here.

- BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION ON ROUTE 202
The PA Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction is scheduled to start February 6 on a $23.3 million project to replace three bridges over Route 202 and modify another in East Whiteland and Tredyffrin townships, Chester County. This project is the second to advance to construction to replace overhead bridges along Route 202 to make room for the future improvement of the limited access highway between North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland Township.
More nighttime lane closures and brief overnight stoppages are scheduled on Route 202 during the week of April 7-11 for continuing bridge work in Tredyffrin and E. Whiteland townships. Lane closures will be in place in both directions on Route 202 at two locations between the Route 30 and Route 29 interchanges Monday through Friday, 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Brief stoppages may occur each night between midnight and 5 a.m. The restrictions will be in place at the Swedesford Road overpass at the Route 29 Interchange and at the Church Road overpass at the Route 401 Interchange. PennDOT advises motorists traveling on Route 202, Route 29 and Swedesford Road to use extra care and allow additional time to drive through the construction areas.

TMACC (Transportation Management Association of Chester County) LAUNCHES NEW BUS SERVICE TO ALLEVIATE ANTICIPATED TRAFFIC CONGESTION
In anticipation of potential traffic congestion along U.S. Route 202 due to a reconstruction project this spring, the Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC) is offering a new bus service, known as the Beeline, as an alternative to driving.
The Beeline provides service during peak commuting periods from the Coatesville, Downingtown and Exton areas to Great Valley, Mondays through Fridays. Weekend service is not offered at this time.
Funding for the Beeline is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) under congestion management for the U.S. Route 202, Section 300 reconstruction project. Planning partners include the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), SEPTA and Chester County.
Stops on the Beeline Bus route include downtown Coatesville, Thorndale, Downingtown at Kerr Park, Exton Square Mall, Siemens Medical Systems and Vanguard in the Great Valley area.
Bus fare will be $2.00; additional zone charge is $.60 each. Schedules can be obtained by contacting the TMACC directly at (610) 993-0911.
County Projects
CHESTER VALLEY TRAIL - The Chester Valley Trail is planned for a former railroad right of way between Chester County's Struble Trail in Downingtown Borough through the length of Tredyffrin Township to the Chester County/Montgomery County line in King of Prussia. From that point, Montgomery County hopes to establish a link over the Schuylkill Expressway to the Schuylkill River Trail in Norristown. Work is now expected to start in 2009 and complete in 2010.
The following map was assembled by the Chester County Department of Parks and Recreation and represents the proposed alignment as of November 28, 2007. This alignment is contingent upon several factors, including landowner negotiations for purchase or easement. Therefore, it should not be considered as an absolute, final alignment for the Trail.
